The Collagen Bar: Forever young

The Collagen Bar isn’t what you might think. There’s no actual bar, no bartender, no menu of signature cocktails. Instead this medical grade spa, just off Park Avenue on East 22nd Street in NoMad, is focused on a different kind of refreshment: Skin refreshment.

Founder Diana Seo is kind, bubbly, and has absolutely glowing skin — I knew I could trust her to give mine a bit of a boost. Her experience in the field is unmatched. Seo started her career as a researcher and technologist at the Cytogenetics Department of Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC before working for Dr. Charles Thorne, one of the most notable plastic surgeons in the world.

With 15 years of combined health and beauty experience, Seo spends much of her time focused on ways to improve how people look and feel. Her NoMad clinic not only offers skincare treatments, but also body-contouring, feminine health, longevity, and hair restoration procedures. Seo is keen on educating clients about strategies to help get ahead of sun damage, aging, and other issues, as well as treating known problem areas. As a note of interest, one of the products used in-house to stimulate collagen production — collagen boosts cell turnover, skin renewal and wound healing — is also used medically on burn victims.

During my visit, my skin was assessed and I was handed off to the team for a CB Glow + CB Lift treatment. The procedure included Pre Lase tx Forma + LED and Lase Md + Biomimetic Protein Exosome Therapy. Forma, which felt like subtle heat being applied to the skin, stimulates new collagen formation and improves the skin’s elasticity, while LED uses red light therapy to reduce visible signs of aging.
