A sacred touch in NoMad

Peaceful and calm, this neighborhood oasis heals from the inside out.

Pulling from Celtic and Incan shamanism healing techniques, Sacred Touch brings holistic healing to people right here in NoMad. Founder Monica Watters’s clients are known to call her the “energy alchemist” with her stark ability to realign and restore a person’s mind-body-spirit connection. The studio is tucked away on the 11th floor of The St. James Building at 1133 Broadway offering simultaneous convenience and oasis.

Watters’s interest in skincare and healing began as a child. She’d observe her mother collecting medicinal herbs from her garden, then watch as she used them to remedy ailments. Watters carries on that generational gift of healing with cutting-edge technology and training in a range of disciplines, including skin care, nutrition, LED therapy, energy medicine, reflexology, lymphatic drainage massage, and yoga. She specializes in honing in on the root of the issue instead of focusing on the superficial problem.

The NOMAD Magazine team had the pleasure of popping into Sacred Touch for a customized facial. Watters asked questions related to nutrition, medical history, and current skincare habits and took six images of the skin to access texture, inflammation, and sun damage. From the images, she was able to note certain health issues and where in the body they were located.

The spa is peaceful and calm with crisp white walls that are well-insulated from the bustling street below. The facial began with an essential oil foot massage emphasizing key pressure points. Everything about the service was rooted in a holistic approach. “What’s happening in your body can be seen on your face,” Watters stated multiple times throughout the three-hour appointment and consultation. After applying a few calming masks, a steam treatment, and extractions, Waters moved seamlessly into healing mode.

Watters said that when she was growing up, the whole town trusted her mother to tend sick animals and people. Now she carries on that very same healing process with her patients. While my ultra- hydrating mask sunk in, Watters put her hand on my stomach and coached me through breath work. When I sat up after the facial, she handed me a customized, mineral-filled glass of water and asked me to pick a tarot card to seal the practice with. The unique combination of targeting my physical, mental, and spiritual needs, left me feeling joyful, energized, and light.
