The NOMAD Magazine team stepped into a world of mystery and mind-bending puzzles at PanIQ Room in NoMad, where from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for an adventure.
Our mission? To solve the mystery of Moonshine Madness, a 1920s speakeasy-style escape room where a mysterious drink had been causing bizarre side effects. As a team of expert “drink investigators,” we had just 60 minutes to uncover the truth, concoct the right drinks, and escape before time ran out.
Our host set the scene with a dramatic introduction, reminding us that this wasn’t just about searching for hidden objects — it was, in fact, a true test of intellect and teamwork. At first, the room seemed deceptively sparse, with few obvious clues. But as we explored further, subtle hints emerged. With a few well-timed nudges from the game moderator, we unlocked secret compartments, solved intricate puzzles, and pieced together the mystery. The clock was against us, but after an intense final push, we solved the puzzle with just 12 seconds to spare.
Compared to other escape rooms we’ve tried, Moonshine Madness was definitely more cerebral, requiring strong collaboration and problem- solving. It’s an ideal challenge for a group of friends or colleagues looking for a unique night out or a fun bonding experience.

PanIQ Room first launched in Hungary in 2012 with the goal of continuously creating immersive experiences designed to keep guests engaged. The concept quickly gained traction, leading to the opening of its first U.S. location in 2014. Since then, PanIQ Room has expanded rapidly, with locations across the United States, Europe, and Asia, with more in the works.
