Publisher’s Letter (Issue n.7)
Dear NOMAD Magazine Readers and Supporters, and the Greater Flatiron and NoMad Community,
Welcome to the seventh issue of NOMAD Magazine! With every new edition, we have the privilege of celebrating the incredible growth, diversity, and spirit of our neighborhood — and this issue is no exception.
We’re especially proud to introduce two exciting new sections that reflect our expanding community and deepening cultural roots. First, our Flatiron section takes a step just south of the border to spotlight our neighbors in the Flatiron District. As NoMad continues to thrive, so too does our connection with surrounding communities, and this section celebrates the businesses, people, and shared energy that strengthen our greater district.
Second, we’re thrilled to debut a new Jazz Festival section, highlighting the
upcoming NoMad Jazz Festival this August. This celebration of music, community,
and culture will fill Madison Square Park and the surrounding streets with rhythm and soul. It also honors NoMad’s musical legacy, from Tin Pan Alley to Jon Batiste’s early days performing in the neighborhood, and marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long-standing tradition.
This issue is filled with interesting stories and beautiful imagery. We are especially proud of our cover story on the Flower District, and loved learning more about Marble Collegiate Church and the Morgan Library & Museum. We also visited and wrote about a number of interesting places and experiences, including Dan White’s The Magician, The Pit NYC, and a tour of the best neighborhood vintage and thrift shops.
As our neighborhood grows, so does The NoMad Alliance — our nonprofit organization that not only publishes this magazine but also produces the Jazz Festival and other community-building initiatives. We are a grassroots alliance fueled by the passion, generosity, and creativity of local residents, businesses, and supporters.
If you love NoMad and believe in the power of culture and community, we invite you to get involved. Whether as a volunteer, donor, or ambassador, your support makes everything we do possible. Help us tell more stories, host more events, and build a neighborhood that continues to inspire.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re so grateful to grow alongside you. With gratitude,
Leslie Spira Lopez
