Publisher’s Letter (Issue n.4)

Dear NOMAD Magazine Readers and Supporters,

It’s hard to believe that a year has flown by since our inaugural issue, but here we are celebrating the release of Issue #4. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.

NOMAD Magazine stands as a testament to the mission of The NoMad Alliance, steadfast in our commitment to an ever better, sustainable “live, work, play, learn” community. Each issue is a celebration of what makes our neighborhood unique, and it’s all thanks to the incredible support of our community — its people and its leaders.

In this issue, we pay tribute to one of my personal heroes, Danny Meyer. Over 25 years ago, I had the privilege of hearing Danny speak at a meeting of The Family Business Council of Greater New York. His vision of the marriage between business and hospitality left an indelible imprint on me. He reframed all business experiences with customers within the context of hospitality, and this perspective forever changed my life.

Danny’s impact on the restaurant industry has been revolutionary, pointing it in new directions while nurturing emerging talent and mentoring countless young chefs and entrepreneurs. Long before the rise of social media, he was already a powerful “influencer” with innumerable “followers.” He is, and always has been, a visionary. But first and foremost, he is a true leader and a force to be reckoned with.

Danny’s unparalleled vision and steadfast support in founding and nurturing the Madison Square Park Conservancy have been unmatched. As a board member, local business owner, and NoMad resident, I am honored to celebrate his recognition as one of our honorees at this year’s “Party in the Park Gala.

As I’m sure Danny himself would say, “There’s no place like NoMad.”

With pride and affection,

Leslie Spira Lopez
