Electric Shuffle, a unique chain with four U.S. and three UK locations, made its NYC debut in July 2024 on the 2nd floor of Virgin Hotels NYC, lighting up the neighborhood with a one-of-a-kind blend of gaming, dining, and social buzz. This expansive, 10,000-square-foot venue reimagines the nostalgic charm of shuffleboard through the lens of modern technology and group play.
Born from a decade-long journey by a group of hospitality-minded friends, who took their most beloved experiences from pubs in London and dive bars in Dallas and everything in between to create something uniquely special, Electric Shuffle is the product of years of research, innovation, and gameplay testing. That passion for innovation extends into every aspect of the business — the Electric Shuffle team tasted 27 different espressos to perfect the recipe for their Espresso Martini and They hand-picked every song on the playlist and explored local antique markets across the world to source their one-of-a-kind decor. The goal? To create a space where groups can connect in meaningful, memorable ways, whether mingling, watching, eating, or playing.
This is the spot to bring a group of friends, family, or colleagues for a celebratory brunch, a birthday party, or an elevated game night — the interactive shuffleboard tables accommodate up to 16 players. Guests can choose from four fast-paced games, each designed to be intuitive and engaging. A fan favorite is “Eclipse,” a game of strategy, quick moves, and plenty of laughs. The digital scoreboard narrates the action and tracks rankings at the end of each match. After each visit, Electric Shuffle sends guests an email filled with instant captures of their best moments and throws, perfect for securing bragging rights among friends.
The vibe plays out across a variety of rooms, each offering a different take on the shuffle experience. Neon lighting, signature cocktails, and a curated menu of sharing platters (along with plenty of vegetarian options), make this very much a one-of-a-kind social experience. The NOMAD Magazine team shared lots of laughs, glasses of bubbly, and friendly competition when we visited for the all-inclusive weekend Brunch Social, which includes 90 minutes of play, a bottle of bubbly for each person in the group, Brunch Boards and Bacon Jam Pizza, and a DJ spinning tunes.
Shuffleboard areas are tucked into their own spaces — from the tropical-themed Miami Room to the cozy-chic Library — each has its own energy level and vibe. As more guests arrive, the competition heats up, and the rooms come alive with energy.
The NoMad venue offers semi-private and private rooms for groups of all sizes, ranging from 20 to 80 guests in a single space, or full buyouts for up to 400. For larger gatherings, TV screens can be customized with logos or messaging, making it an ideal setting for branded or corporate events.
