Publisher’s Letter (Issue n.6)

Dear NOMAD Magazine Readers and Supporters, and the Greater Flatiron and NoMad Community,

As the season of gratitude arrives, I find myself reflecting on the countless reasons I am thankful to live and work in NoMad, a truly unique and vibrant neighborhood in New York City. At the heart of this appreciation are the people and organizations whose dedication makes NoMad an extraordinary place.

I am grateful to The NoMad Alliance for continuously driving the neighborhood forward with visionary initiatives like NoMad Jazz, celebrating the rich musical legacy of Tin Pan Alley and adding rhythm to our streets.

To the Madison Square Park Conservancy, thank you for transforming our beloved park with world-class horticulture and inspiring public art, enriching the lives of all who pass through this remarkable urban oasis.

I extend deep gratitude to the Flatiron NoMad Partnership for keeping our neighborhood clean, safe, and thriving. Their installations, like The Portal—a live connection to Dublin—illustrate the creative spirit that makes NoMad truly remarkable.

Thank you to the New York City Department of Transportation for fostering pedestrian-friendly streets that allow places like the NoMad Piazza to flourish year-round, enjoyed by both residents and visitors.

Above all, I am immensely thankful for the innovative community of workers, business owners, and consumers that form the heart of this neighborhood. Their hard work and the connections we share make NoMad feel like home, giving purpose to each day.

In this issue of NOMAD Magazine, we are excited to highlight the ongoing transformation of One Madison Avenue, a project that showcases how our neighborhood’s historical charm meets innovation. We’re also featuring a beloved hidden landmark, an old cigar shop that has stood the test of time in NoMad, offering readers a look at both the evolving and enduring elements of this unique neighborhood.

As NoMad experiences a new Gilded Age, filled with culture, jazz, one-of-a-kind destinations, and countless places to dine, shop, and stay, I am reminded of the spirit of giving that defines this community. I hope that you find your way to support the many organizations that do good in this neighborhood.

Truly, there is no place like NoMad.

Wishing you, your families, and friends a season filled with warmth, connection, and more reasons to be thankful! With heartfelt gratitude,
